• Effects and Tracking

After Effects is a fantastic animation application, but it can do a lot more than just move objects around the composition. After Effects has an extremely powerful effects engines built in to the core architecture of the program. Up until now, we have only scratched the surface on the available effects in the program.

We are going to pull back the curtain of Hollywood and begin to explore some the procedures that are used to create some really awesome visual effects. In addition to exploring the effects engine in After Effects, we will also look at the Tracking System in After Effects and discover how it can be used in our work. Are you excited? Cause I'm geekin' out over here! Lets get started!

    Project Due: Week 09

During this week's lab, we will be tracking a series of points on a video clip of a car. The intention of the animation is to including text that precisely follows the movement of the car. This won't be a problem with the incredibly powerful tracking tools in After Effects. Here are the specific elements that I am looking for:

    • Track 3 different points on the car video clip
    • Attach separate image layers to the tracked points
    • Frame Size: 720x540 pixels
    • Duration: 00:00:03;29
    • Pixel Aspect Ratio: .91
    • Frame Rate: 29.97fps
    • Format (the codec) of Rendered Movie: H.264
