Architectural Visualization

One of the best applications of 3D models is in architectural visualization. Computer graphics technology has matured to a point that creating photo realistic renders and walk-through animations of residential and commercial locations is now cost effective. This week, we will focus on the process of modeling and texturing a residential or commercial building. Attention should be placed on the shape/volume of the overall structure before adding detail elements, like the trees, trim and landscaping.

The Walk Cycle

The Walk Cycle

This week, we are going to continue our exploration of movement by focusing our efforts on all of the moving parts of a basic, human walk cycle. Through this discussion, we’ll learn about the importance of arcs, spacing and poses. Animating a walk cycle would be impossible if we don’t understand all the associated poses, so we are going to examine the key poses of the walk cycle first and focus on how to illustrate those in our animation.

We are going to pull back the curtain of Hollywood and begin to explore some the procedures that are used to create some really awesome visual effects. In addition to exploring the effects engine in After Effects, we will also look at the Tracking System in After Effects and discover how it can be used in our work. Are you excited? Painting Hard Surfaces

This week we are going to stimulate the left side of the brain and focus on the art of hard-surface texture painting. We are going to spend most of our time exploring how to create convincing textures and materials in Photoshop. Using nothing more than a few photographs and some paint brushes, we’ll develop the creative process for painting an awesome, and accurate, diffuse texture map.
